SUMMARY:Bobby Burns Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Hello Folks!\n\nIt's time for the Wind River Scottish Society's annual celebration of Scotland's national poet\, Robert Burns. The 18th century poet wrote many poems & songs\, many of which you have probably heard. Namely\, he wrote the words to "Old Lang Syne". He also wrote "My Love is But a Red Red Rose".\n\n\n\nThe Annual Burns Supper is a chance to do the following:\n\n1) Enjoy camaraderie of local Scots and not Scots who are interested in Scottish history/culture.\n\n2) Try some Haggis.\n\n3) Listen to some great bagpipe playing.\n\n4) Try your cooking skills at Scottish cuisine (often accused of being based on a dare). C'mon: How often do you get to prepare a dish with Kale and be praised for it?\n\n5) Getting one of the 15+ door prizes.\n\n6) Reciting some Burns poetry in public (a requirement for claiming a door prize)\n\n7) Listening to others butcher (I mean recite) some Burns poetry.\n\n8) Listen to other live music and singing from our amazing local talent pool.\n\n9) Stay long enough to see if a wild Scottish country (line) dance breaks out! (You know you're curious.)\n\n\n\nThis is a potluck event to be held at the Wind River Room at the Best Western in Lander. The Wind River Room is the 3rd building back in the Best Western Complex.\n\n\n\nPlease bring a dish to share\, and table settings. It is FAMILY FRIENDLY. Bring your kiddos. Kids age 12 & under are no charge/donation.\n\nA $3 donation is being requested at the door to cover the rental of the space. This is no longer a BYOB event (Best Western policy). [Please come back\, our dearly beloved community center!] So please plan accordingly for an onsite bar operated by Best Western staff.\n\n\n\nHere are the W's:\n\nWhat: Annual Robert Burns Supper\n\nWhere: Best Western in Lander\n\nWhen: Saturday\, January 19\, 2013 at 6pm\n\nWhy: To celebrate Robert Burns' poetry and all things Scottish\n\nWho: Anybody interested is invited to this event.
