POSITION: Art Teacher (Grades 6-8)
LOCATION: Lander Middle School
SALARY: $52,200 starting base salary (based on 2025-26 salary schedule); full benefits
CONTRACT: Full-time, 185-day contract
START DATE: August 18, 2025

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a Wyoming teaching certificate with an endorsement in Art K-12. The successful applicant must have the ability to teach all disciplines of art in accordance with the Wyoming State teaching standards; has high expectations for students and the ability to help students meet those expectations; ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff; good classroom managements skills; willingness and ability to work cooperatively with other personnel in the school; knowledge of and experience with implementing effective, research-based classroom instructional strategies to increase student achievement. Desired qualifications include: Past successful middle school teaching experience teaching multiple art disciplines; ability to differentiate instruction to meet the wide variety of student abilities and needs; ability and desire to work in a standards-based grading system; knowledge and experience working with professional learning communities (PLC); ability to implement RTI and PBIS concepts; strong classroom management skills; ability to be able to work with all grade-levels 6-8; commitment to teach to the established standards and benchmarks to ensure student achievement; good communication skills; willingness to assist the school by serving on school and district committees; willingness to be a team player; and the desire to continue to grow professionally to better be able to educate our students.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the principal, the art teacher is responsible for teaching art to students at the middle school level with an emphasis on the following areas: drawing, painting, pottery, printmaking, digital art and stained glass. The art teacher responsibilities may include but are not limited to, leading a project based classroom where students will actively work to understand and apply art concepts across multiple disciplines.
